My group also tackled the goblin cave first (there's a writeup in Campaign Journals over on Dragonsfoot).

I agree that it's all about tactics! There's ample opportunity for all kinds of plans - almost anything the party comes up with is worth a shot (barring the full frontal assault, in which they would get rapidly overwhelmed).

Looking forward to comparing notes...D. We didn't accomplish much except get a guy killed and the rest of the party wounded. We need to get our act together for the next session. And there's so much there that you could almost center a campaign around this one adventure if you really chose to.

Mind you, I don't mean make the adventure the entire campaign, but you could practically use it as the focal point of one. I changed up a few details in the module to make it more of a conspiracy and lead-up to an invasion of the keep by the creatures of Chaos being staged at the caves. The players who remembered the module were helped very little by any OOC foreknowledge they may have had. It's a very solid setting and a great place for a campaign sandbox to start out. Still one of my favorite modules ever.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14409843014143739635noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377543525075660166.post-14431271284248983032013-09-15T11:09:36.411-04:002013-09-15T11:09:36.411-04:00The rich tactical environment had me considerably ...The rich tactical environment had me considerably concerned while we pushed into the goblin caves. With multiple, unknown attack paths any organized resistance with a battle plan could easily overwhelm our party.

I look forward to a robust discussion on strategy and tactics with the group next game.Jay Murphyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00069789456292604679noreply@blogger.com
