It's just so remarkable to me that Holmes alone fits that 48-page mark that makes all the other editions seem almost bloated by comparison.Wayne R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/04118962136054206381noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377543525075660166.post-47423184071455391452013-02-16T21:41:27.009-05:002013-02-16T21:41:27.009-05:00I agree with everything you've said ... but al...I agree with everything you've said ... but allow me to leap to the defence of Blueholme! ;P

Blueholme Prentice Rules 60 pages because it uses a larger font size, has more art, and includes a character sheet and the inevitable OGL small print. On the other hand it doesn't have the 4 pages of preface, foreword and tables that Holmes has. However, it's possible that I might be able to squeeze it down a bit in the second printing which I'll release together with the Compleat Rules ...

I grew up with Moldvay/Cook/Marsh B/X, and in its way it is very restrictive - it's so complete and integrated that there's really no way to break out of it. I tried to do an errata document for B/X once, but it ended up being just an errata paragraph, really - it's that tight. I still love it for what it is, but Holmes just seems infinitely more romantic to me now.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377543525075660166.post-37691792789142240292013-02-16T17:29:04.805-05:002013-02-16T17:29:04.805-05:00Another clone, which incorporates Meepo's Comp...Another clone, which incorporates Meepo's Companion for 14 levels and has 39 pages, is Wizards, Warriors and Wyrms. I haven't looked through it too closely as to where it differs from Holmes.

Looking forward to the next session!Nathanielhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12666724974384466008noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5377543525075660166.post-25801581253689729942013-02-16T16:03:08.689-05:002013-02-16T16:03:08.689-05:00Holmes is my favorite version of D&D.
